Weihong Chen

She is Professor and head of Department of Occupational Health and Environmental Health in School of Tongji Public Health in University of Science & Technology. She is also Adjunct Professor in The Chinese University of Hong Kong. She obtained her medical degree from Tongji Medical University and Doctor Degree in Essen University in Germany. Her major research interest is adverse effects of environmental air particulate on respiratory system and possible prevention strategy. Including (1) cohort study on health damage among workers with long-term exposure to industrial dust, (2) the mechanism of respiratory damage induced by air pollutants, (3) fitting characteristics and improvement for air-purifying respirators.

She won Alice Hamilton award by NIOSH in 2006, first prize of Science and Technological Progress Award in Hubei Province in 2007, and second prize of Chinese National Science and Technology Progress Award in 2014. More than 180 papers have been published in peer reviewed journals.
